I have posted this video before, but it came up in a conversation I was having yesterday and I wanted to share again.
The important things to remember is that even if you are one of these awkward runners you are welcome at Run Richmond. We may encourage some changes in running form, but you are certainly welcome.
If you are reading this there is a really good chance that you are a runner. If that is the case you may not have ever realized this, but runners talk a lot of our runs. Sometimes non-running friends/family think that is the only thing that we ever discuss. Running is not only important to us and becomes a major part of our lives, it is what many people associate us with. Continue reading Running Stories
Running is really good for 98% of your body. That other 2% consist of knees and feet. Those not so much a good thing for runners. I am currently battling “Runners Knee” and have one toe nail that has been black for 2 months. But the pictures of the feet in this Runner’s World articles are way worse than I have personally had. Seen a few high school cross country runners with blisters that compare though. Enjoy…unless you are grossed out by feet in general. If that is the case don’t click the link.
At Run Richmond we believe in helping people gain a healthy body and a healthy mind. This video today is to help with the healthy mind part. If you need to be outside for something watch 5 minutes of this when you come back in and everything will be better.
WARNING – Some of these people are shocked when they fall and profanities are apparently their first response to surprise.
I have written on here before about my distain for running on treadmills. It seems like a good plan this time of year. 25 degree temps and short days make good treadmill weather. I get that, but look at how dangerous these things are. 😉
The title of this post is a quote that fits me perfectly. I love doing runs that other people think are crazy. Not long after I started running I ran up Big Hill that heads towards Jackson County. A few months ago a friend and I ran from I-75 Exit 99 to Exit 97. That doesn’t sound difficult until you realize that is across the river from Lexington to Madison Co. We went down under the interstate and crossed the little bridge and then back up the other side.
People tried for days beforehand to convince us that it was a bad idea and we would either be begging for a ride up the hill or get ran over by a car. Once people started trying to tell me it was a bad idea my mind was made up and there was no going back. Your brain quite likely isn’t wired like mine. You may be a lot more rational than I am. That quote to you may mean nothing. Well I figure the best way to put a quote up that will strike a nerve with lots of readers is to put lots of quotes. So I searched the internet and have posted a bunch here. Feel free to use them however you wish. Now I finally understand all the push to get those Adelle tickets. I had no idea she was such a great song writer.
I have written on here before about cold weather runs and I know eventually it is going to get cold and stay cold. This weekend I was running in shorts and a tank top and sweating a lot. That is not normal for December. That is also not going to last. I don’t care what your beliefs are about global warming, at some point it is going to get cold and stay cold for a long period of time. Continue reading Really Cold Runs Are In Our Future
