The Water To Wine 5K Vineyard was over a month ago and we are finally finishing off all the final details to wrap up the event. That means we have gotten to the point that we can celebrate the good stuff you all did by registering for or sponsoring the event.
Hospice Care Plus was our main charity partner for the event. When we started talking about what we desired from our partners the main thing that came up was a partnership. Hospice Care Plus killed it! We could not have asked for a better partner. When we told them our vision for the race they jumped at the opportunity to join us. Little did they (or us) know that would include being part of a live TV interview on Fox 56 Morning Show.
Hospice went above and beyond with their support of Run Richmond to make this a successful event. They brought tons of volunteers that were high energy and ready to go. They stuck around til the end helping us tear down and clean up. We couldn’t have been happier with the way the partnership went. As a matter of fact, when Trent and I talked we decided that they have made it harder on all our future charity partners. There are some big shoes to fill going forward.
Health Now! Clinic partnered with us in the Historic Haunt last fall and then again in the Water To Wine 5K Vineyard Run. Both times they have served as our medical professionals to be sure that our runners are taken care of if anything happens. Luckily we haven’t had to really put them to the test yet, but I know if we ever had to Sheila and her team are up to the challenge. We appreciate the support they have given Run Richmond and plan to have an event soon that will give a more significant portion of the proceeds to Health Now! Clinic. It is a wonderful group of people doing wonderful things for those struggling to get proper health care.
Finally we had Thirts Project as our third charity partner. Thirst Project was added because we couldn’t imagine having a Water To Wine run without some money going to a clean water initiative. This is a great organization that uses the money fully to help bring clean water to people that need it. Our focus is on local charities, but we are happy to be able to contribute to such a great need.
At the end of the day we are able to say that over $4,000.00 has been raised to give to the 3 charities. Health Now and Hospice each received more than we had originally estimated for them and the are very pleased. We didn’t hit the registration numbers that we had hoped do to some unfortunate weather heading into the run, but we couldn’t help but reward both of them for the extra effort they put in to insure the events success. So if you participated in the race or sponsored the race give yourself a big pat on the back. There are some charities that did a little happy dance the other day when I told them how much money they would be receiving because of you.
Thanks for supporting Run Richmond and our efforts to make Richmond a better place to live. We look forward to seeing you at the Historic Haunt on October 7th.
